INFRASTRUCTURE
Joint Venture Projects
Successful delivery of infrastructure and capital projects increasingly relies on collaboration with private sector businesses and investors through joint venture structures.
We have experience in negotiating joint venture agreements in various forms, including:
- Asset-backed vehicles
- Strategic Estates Partnerships
- Incremental Partnerships
- Development Agreements
These forms of agreement are ever more important – particularly as traditional Public-Private Partnership (PPP) pipelines are paused in the UK and local authority funding settlements drive a need to innovate in seeking private sector investment and development expertise.
Each potential joint-venture is unique and must be carefully structured to deliver the project sponsor’s objectives and suit the respective expertise and interests of all parties. Our team can provide strategic advice in identifying potential partners, market testing and commercial negotiation, in addition to our usual financial advice.
Our recent relevant experience includes:
- Advising Swansea University on its long-term joint venture with St. Modwen, a listed developer and regeneration specialist, to deliver its new £450m Swansea Bay Campus.
- Advising 6 local authorities on district heating projects with a capital value of more than £100m, whom are at various stages of pursing joint-venture delivery partners
- Delivering 10 DBFO social infrastructure projects (£300m value) through the “hub” programme in Scotland
